Abstract:
The article sets out to discuss the linguistic diversity that is part and parcel of the cultural diversity, an essential feature of the European Union. In the European context, the rights of the EU minorities can only serve the interests in the preservation of the linguistic and cultural diversity as an identity feature of the old continent. As such, these rights are discussed in the context of the Hungarian minority from Transylvania, its history, claims and legitimacy.
