Abstract: The current paper refers to the connection between children and nature, mainly to the fact that they are spending less time outdoors. Studies have shown that outdoors activities have a major and benefic impact upon the psychological development of the humans. Ecological education is a relatively new concept that is gaining more ground. Starting from this and from the fact that now children have a busy schedule, we find it useful to bring nature closer to them by taking classes outdoors. And we refer here not only to classes that can be taught outdoors, biology, geography, sports, but also those that usually take place indoors: Maths, Literature, foreign languages. Learning theoretical knowledge by children is much easier to realize by them when we are using concrete examples and stimulate all their senses. Children see nature differently than adults, they are using it as part of their actions, are stimulated by nature, analyzing the natural surroundings not aesthetically but how they can interact with it. The advantages of outdoor activities for children are numerous: cognitive development is improved, their thinking and the ability to observe, nature takes away the stress of daily activities, they results are better when tested regarding concentration and self-discipline, activities in various natural environments, reduces or even eliminates lies.
