Abstract: The author surveys the rise of inequality across the rich nations of the world. He is concerned that policies to reduce inequality, mostly social programs that redistribute income, may not be sustainable in coming years. There may well be a solution, he finds: maintain high levels of employment. He provides a set of policies for major nations designed to accomplish just that.
