Abstract:
Many Americans have no doubt accepted the myth that the nation pays the best wages in the world. One reason they may is that for most of the nation’s history, wages have indeed been highest in the world. In an attempt to clarify the facts, your editor and his colleague, Amanda Novello of the Century Foundation, compared American earnings to the levels of those in other nations.
