Abstract: The topic of international economic sanctions is particularly relevant in the domestic scientific literature since the implementation of sanctions by a number of states toward Russia in 2014. Due to the relative novelty of the topic in the national economic discussion, the goal of this article is to clarify the frameworks of categories of the subject of study and to analyze the motives and consequences of Russia's counter-sanctions in the area of agricultural sector and food industry.
