Abstract: According to the general definition, sustainable development is a such development that preserves possibility to meet basic living needs to the present and future generations while preserving the natural functions of the ecosystem. Potential threats of primary resources depletion and environmental requirements from countries and the EU have forced all sectors of the economy to use more efficient technologies. Facility management, a management of processes support, is one of the major management activities that practically everyday affects the lives of a large proportion of the population in today's economies. It is a relatively young division with high potential, which has evolved differently in different European countries in view of the various historical and cultural backgrounds. At the same time, within the framework of European integration, there was a need to create a clear definition of facility management and to clarify the links of the main support processes. Based on this need, the European Standard EN 15221 has been developed to provide guidance on how to improve and measure the quality of facility management services.
