Matching Advanced Studies to the Skills Required for Work: The Case of PhD. Graduates in Italy
Giuseppe Gaeta
Economia dei Servizi, 2013, issue 2, 177-188
Abstract:
How satisfied are Italian PhD graduates of their own work and, in particular, of the skills attained during their studies? The answer to this question is of crucial importance for assessing the professional achievements of PhD graduates. This paper aims to offer some useful elements for the evaluation of satisfaction perceived by PhD holders in matching acquired competences to those used in the work they do. Our empirical analysis is carried out on data collected by ISTAT in 2009 with the first national survey of PhD recipients.
