Glasses go critical

Abstract: In phenomenological terms, a ‘glassy’ material is a liquid that has ‘jammed up’ — that is, cooled without freezing until translational molecular motion is arrested. As a theoretical problem, however, it is profound and poorly characterized Simulations of glass formation in polymers show a possible way forward through the more familiar framework of equilibrium staistical physics.
