Abstract:
Abstract Hulme et al.1 make a valid distinction between the relative importance for European water runoff and wheat yields of human-induced climate change and naturally occurring climate variability, when considered over timescales of several decades. They use the HadCM2 climate model to show that, in many European cases, the human-induced climate change ‘signal’ could be swamped by naturally occurring climatic ‘noise’.
