States of non-mind

David Jones

Nature, 2000, vol. 403, issue 6767, 263-263

Abstract: The answer to why we are conscious may come from studying alcoholics, especially when they experience ‘palimpsest’. The state of palimpsest is associated with loss of awareness. So if we could isolate hormones or neurotransmitters linked with alcoholic palimpsest, we could perhaps reveal the genes of consciousness.
