Abstract: Houses have roofs and foundations which are built of different materials and require upkeep. Likewise, cells — especially for instance those that form an epithelial sheet — have a top and bottom, and the right proteins have to be directed to the right place throughout the cells' lives. A molecule called Scribble now emerges as a central player in the maintenance of cell polarity in the fruitflyDrosophila.
