Abstract:
Nature, 404, 1018–1021 (2000). In this Letter, we demonstrated active group II intron transposition to multiple ectopic sites and showed that movement to these new sites occurs via an RNA intermediate in a process termed retrotransposition. Of interest was whether retrotransposition occurs by reverse splicing of the intron RNA into RNA, single-stranded DNA and/or double-stranded DNA targets.
