Abstract:
Cancer target The INK4/ARF locus encodes three tumour suppressors and is frequently inactivated in human cancer. Gonzalez et al. have now identified a possible DNA replication origin at the INK4/ARF locus that can mediate its transcriptional silencing, for example when the replication protein Cdc6 is overexpressed as seen in some human tumours. This points to Cdc6 as an alternative target for the inactivation of INK4/ARF in human cancer.
