Abstract:
Inside story The strength of network biology lies in its ability to derive cell biological information without a priori mechanistic or molecular knowledge. Eva Schmid and Harvey McMahon show that a molecular understanding of clathrin-mediated endocytosis, a process used by eukaryotic cells to pack nutrients and other molecules into vesicles for internalization, can refine the network approach and allow the derivation of general biological principles.
