Abstract: FMDV reservoir In Journal Club this week, crystallographer Stephen Curry highlights a paper that focuses on the ability of foot and mouth disease virus to 'hide' in immune cells in the lymph nodes. A system meant to contribute towards an effective immune response might, the authors of the original paper in PLoS ONE speculate, be hoarding viruses that can prolong the infection. Discussion of the paper continues at http://blogs.nature.com/nature/journalclub .
