Abstract: Drosophila's conserved apoptosis factors A genome-wide silencing screen in Drosophila has identified a novel player in apoptosis. In their screen Chew et al. combined a library of double-stranded RNAs together with a chemical antagonist of Inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs). Thus they identified a set of validated targets necessary for death by several stimuli. Among these, Tango7 is identified as a novel effector for apoptosis in flies.
