Abstract:
Natural helper cells Natural killer cells are innate immune cells that react to viral and bacterial infections by producing various cytokines. Moro et al. report the presence in the mesenteric lymphoid nodules of a previously unrecognized subset of innate lymphoid cells which produce TH2 cytokines and act as helpers for B1 cells. These natural helper cells may play a role in defence against helminths through the activation of mucus production by goblet cells.
