Abstract:
Entangled photon triplets Entangled photons are a powerful resource for fundamental science and have the potential to fuel novel quantum technologies in computation and communication. Entangled photon pairs can be created by spontaneous parametric down-conversion of laser light, but until now it has not been possible to produce photon triplets in this way. Hübel et al. now report the direct generation of photon triplets using a cascade of photon-pair sources, in which each triplet originates from just a single pump photon, leading to quantum correlations between all three photons.
