Abstract: Spiroacetals are found in a broad range of biologically active compounds, including small insect pheromones and more complex macrocycles; a confined imidodiphosphoric-acid catalyst is now reported that is able to facilitate the stereoselective synthesis of small, unfunctionalized spiroacetals.
