Abstract:
This research analyzes the strategies of cyclical and countercyclical fiscal policy un¬dertaken in response to economic and financial crisis in the period 2006 – 2010. Especially the criteria followed by three member countries of the European Union are contrasted: Germany, Italy and Portugal, which have different characteristics in terms of the soundness of its public finances. The research suggests that the orientation of fiscal policy guided by international organizations and authorities of the European Union could hinder the econo¬mic recovery, especially if the domestic market is damaged through shrinkage of personal incomes.
