Abstract:
Courage belongs to the prerequisites of the innovation process. The paper discusses the case of Reckhaus GmbH & Co. KG. It states that essential dimensions of courage in the operational innovation process correspond to the courage that is essential for artistic work. On this empirical basis courage in the innovation process is interpreted as creative courage and concretised as a construct of free will, risk awareness, target orientation, and creative action. Arts-based interventions can train and ›encourage‹ non-art innovators in the handling of typical innovative conditions such as uncertainty.
