Managing international assignments in Polish companies operating in foreign markets –analysis of preliminary empirical results

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to identify managerial practices concerning diverse forms of cross-border employee flows that take place in Polish companies in the process of internationalization. Two dimensions of their international maturity (involvement in foreign activities, and length of time over which they are undertaken) are applied in a comparative analysis covering strategic orientation, policies and procedures concerning international assignments, and use of particular forms of IAs. In part, it confirmed the validity of the assumption of congruity between a company’s international maturity and approach to managing IAs.
