The role of mechanical engineering in the industrial policy of the Tomsk region

Abstract: The mechanical engineering as an industry is one that was the most hit by the economic crisis. Its enterprises located in Siberia are financially worse even in comparison with similar enterprises in the European part of the country. The analysis of its trends in the Tomsk region and its increased significance in the industrial policy exercised by the regional administration has been made on the basis of standard statistics with additional information on outputs of individual enterprises. Suggested are a number of steps that can positively affect further development of this sector as the basic component of the region's industry.
