Federate relations in the period of economic turbulence

V.I. Klistorin (klistorin@mail.ru )

Journal "Region: Economics and Sociology", 2010, vol. 2

Abstract: The paper analyses the impact of institutions of federalism on the economic development in the crisis, and the effectiveness of anti-recessionary programs. We put forward the hypothesis that federations proved to be less sensitive to the negative impacts of a crisis. The fact that in Russia, the crisis had much more negative impacts than in other countries, could be explained by the nature of Russian institutional system and, especially, by deterioration of Russian institutions of federalism.
