Abstract:
The unprovoked and brutal invasion of Ukraine by Russia on 24 February 2022 has and will impose a terrible human cost. In addition, the war, together with the sanctions on Russia imposed in response by the United States, Europe, and many other countries will have large economic costs. In this NiGEM Topical Feature, we use our Global Econometric Model (NiGEM) to update our earlier estimate of these costs (Liadze et al., 2022). These estimates are based on our revised assessment of the situation in the light of the evolving conflict.
