Abstract:
This article is an account of the authors' visits to certain institutions in Moscow, Leningrad, and Kiev which train agricultural economists. The similarity of the agricultural academy to the A and M type of institution in the U.S. is noted. Undergraduate course requirements at Timiryazev Agricultural Academy are presented and a description is given of graduate programs and procedures for obtaining thesis approval. Several typical thesis topics are mentioned along with comments on use of research techniques.
