Needed Adjustments in the Supply of Farm Labor

Micha Gisser

American Journal of Agricultural Economics, 1967, vol. 49, issue 4, 806-815

Abstract: The problem of farm labor adjustment to economic growth is considered. The article attempts (a) to construct a theoretical model of the farm labor market, (b) to utilize available econometric estimates of parameters appearing in the demand for and supply of farm labor, (c) to estimate the annual shift in the supply of farm labor which is required in order to achieve a rise in the farm wage rate comparable to the rise of nonfarm wages.
