Economic Aspects of Ground Water Resources and Replacement Flows in Semiarid Agricultural Areas

Micha Gisser and Abraham Mercado

American Journal of Agricultural Economics, 1973, vol. 55, issue 3, 461-466

Abstract: This article integrates an agricultural demand function for water with a hydrologic model of an aquifer in a semiarid region. The model can aid policy-makers with problems from overdraft leading to a falling water table and with examination of the profitability of importing water from surplus areas and artificially recharging the aquifer.
