Abstract:
Lay Summary We know that animals differ in their behavior. What we do not know is why the study of animal personalities is apparently the only way by which we can understand individual differences among animals. We argue that the field of animal personality does not add anything new. Instead, it appears to be a rebranding of much more rigorous fields of research.
