Abstract: SummaryExamples are cited from the rabbinic literature up to the fourteenth century illustrating computation of combinations, permutations and probabilities. It is shown that the rabbis had some awareness of the different conceptions of probability as a measure of relative frequencies or of a state of ignorance.
