Variance estimation for generalized Cavalieri estimators

Johanna Ziegel, Eva B. Vedel Jensen and Karl-Anton Dorph-Petersen

Biometrika, 2011, vol. 98, issue 1, 187-198

Abstract: The precision of stereological estimators based on systematic sampling is of great practical importance. This paper presents methods of data-based variance estimation for generalized Cavalieri estimators where errors in sampling positions may occur. Variance estimators are derived under perturbed systematic sampling, systematic sampling with cumulative errors and systematic sampling with random dropouts. Copyright 2011, Oxford University Press.
