Policies for the Development of Knowledge-Intensive Local Production Systems

Fiorenza Belussi

Cambridge Journal of Economics, 1999, vol. 23, issue 6, 729-47

Abstract: Starting from the empirical literature concerning the analysis of industrial districts, this paper focuses on the importance of industrial policies in supporting the development and consolidation of local production systems. Here, institutions and markets are envisaged as equally important for long-term performance. The objective is to propose a conceptual framework for the formulation of public policies that places organisational learning at the centre of interest. Copyright 1999 by Oxford University Press.
