Abstract:
The economic impacts of day-to-day management issues on a dairy farm are ass essed using a model that allows for real-life uncertainties. Differen ces regarding oestrus detection rates, calving rates, etc. are evalua ted. Culling strategies are shown to have substantial influence on fa rm income. Results are important for the farm extension service and f or veterinary research. An interactive version of the model has prove d to be a worthwhile tool in courses on dairy farm management.
