Abstract:
David Teece discusses with Richard R. Nelson the contributions of Alfred D. Chandler Jr to a variety of areas in business history, economics, and management. Topics include Chandler's understanding of organizational capabilities, management leadership, technology, strategy, and the theory of the business firm. The discussion also reviews Chandler's role as a historian and as a theorist. It concludes with reflections on the future importance of Chandler's work. Copyright 2010 The Author 2010.
