Abstract: Project management is a technique that can aid in the planning, scheduling, and monitoring of complex projects characterized by numerous, non repetitive jobs called activities. Examples of projects that would use project management include: - developing a mass rapid – transit system for a metropolitan area; - organizing the relocation of a corporate headquarters; - planning the production of a concert, film, or play; - developing and marketing a new automobile; - constructing a high – rise office building. Without thoughtful planning, projects like these are likely to be loaded with unanticipated, missed deadlines, poorly allocated resources, and a guaranteed budget. In short, any significantly complex project will almost assuredly cost more and take longer to complete than would have been the case had project management been used.
