Abstract: Applying corporate Knowledge Management principles in universities has already proven to be one of the best ways to increase the administrative efficiency of the institutions as well as support researchers and faculty. However, implementing such a system has its barriers, mostly due to the poor understanding of the concept (and its long-term benefits) and due to the unstructured, closed sharing policies. The paper tries to provide some insight into how universities position themselves in relationship with knowledge management and knowledge sharing concepts.
