Abstract: The current international economic crisis is a serious negative situation, which affects a lot of countries throughout the world. The present paper makes reference to numerous words and collocations that are being used to describe the economic state, characterized by unemployment, low prices or low levels of trade and investment. The financial turmoil gripping the world has introduced new words into common usage, has changed the meaning of some common business terms or has stressed others. Such an analysis is interesting for the evolution of the business language.
