Abstract: In order to become competitive on the national and international tourism market, the entrepreneurs in the field of tourism from Cluj county should adopt within the product policy a series of new strategies that aim at diversifying and upgrading tourism products sold in this county. The main strategic directions for a superior exploitation of the existing touristic potential and for the development of new touristic products, aim at: establishing a network of centers for curative tourism based on the thermal and mineral waters in the region, the affirmation of rural tourism in some areas of the Apuseni Mountains, the development of tourism in the peri-urban areas, the development of the speleological tourism and hunting tourism and the development of specialized forms of tourism: wine tourism, mining tourism, fishing tourism, extreme tourism (paragliding, hang gliding, motocross).
