Human Development in Dobrogea Area – from Crisis to Crises

Abstract: The aim of this paperwork is, on the one hand, to analyze the data represented by the Human Development Index and, on the other hand, to reveals some possible directions followed by human development under the impact of national and international trends. The position held by Romania and the two Dobrogea’s counties in the rankings of HDI is highlighted in a comparative perspective for the period 1998–2009. Taking into consideration that Romania ranks among the last European Union members, the paperwork includes some warning signals on the future of human development in the area and some recommendations for improving the current situation.
