Abstract: According to the development that the international migration has recently known in Romania and especially due to its manifest effects, there appear frequent questions related to the role the Romanian state played, is playing or could play in this migration. What the Romanian state did to control the process of migration, in order to offer support and protection to its citizens beyond the borders, what it did or not to limit any negative consequences and to maximize the positive ones (or in order to correctly assess them), there are issues offering topics for an actual debate. International migration, when we refer to millions of Romanians beyond the borders, cannot be neglected within migration policies [1]
