Abstract: The topic of the strategic management of service organizations and its implications on the regional development is highly debated nowadays. Therefore, the aim of this study is to reveal recent research focused on the strategic management of service organizations in the context of the regional development. This study reveals firstly the key factors of the regional development, and secondly some strategic management models for service organizations. Furthermore, new approaches for the strategic management of service organizations in the context of the regional development are emphasized. The findings of this study reveal that there are some changes in the way of thinking about the management of service organizations, which seem to influence the practices in the management of services in a regional context. The findings of this study may be helpful for upcoming research in the area of managing regional service organizations.
