Absolute Convergence: the Main Challenge in the Enlarged European Union

Abstract: Regional economic convergence issue has been and continues to be intensively treated and debated topic in the economic literature, not being able to accurately assess whether the process of regional economic growth is a convergent or divergent one. Multitude of studies and research in this area indicate the relevant subject matter and also the difficulties of analyzing the regional convergence and divergence processes and theoretical limits of the substantiation of European Union cohesion policy.
