Abstract:
In the absence of appropriate remedial measures, financial instability can cause the collapse of even more financial institutions, problems in the financial system infrastructure and it can ultimately affect all the financial markets. The contagion effect threats to spread internationally and it produces the destabilization of the financial system as well as of the global economy. The global financial crisis has been felt all over, in our country. The National Bank had to take a series of measures in order to eliminate the risk of contagion. The present paper aims at approaching the topic of the role that the Romanian National Bank has in the supervision of the Romanian financial system, whose main purpose is to ensure financial stability.
