Analysis of the Recent Evolutions of the Romanian Motor Insurance Market

Abstract: This paper aims to be an analysis of the Romanian motor insurance market for the period 2006-2010. Motor insurances with those two component parts, motor own damage insurance (Casco) and motor third party liability insurance (MTPL), represent the greatest percentage of the general insurances, fact that highlights the importance these types of insurances have. The motor insurance market analysis has been done from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives, on the basis of some indicators such as: the penetration degree of motor insurances, the density of motor insurances, the subscribed raw premiums and the paid raw wages, the degree of concentration of motor market for CASCO and MTPL insurances. There are emphasized also factors affecting the future evolution of motor insurance.
