Abstract:
The beginning of the world economic crisis and the decrease in the financial intermediaries profits (both banks and insurance companies), made intermediaries rethink their offer in such a way as to obtain favourable results. In this context, bancassurance activity got a boost, being stimulated by the superior revenues of the bancassurance products and services in respect to the classical ones. The present paper is an empirical study that shows the recent evolutions in bancassurance at world level and underlines the factors that stimulate the development of bancassurance products and services such as the GDP per capita, the need to save, the degree of development of the banking and assurance.
