Abstract: The multitude of difficult national problems, of economic, financial, social, cultural nature etc. deepened and intensified in the Member States of the euro area, in the current context of the global financial and economic crisis, have generated, in many states, the emergence and the exacerbation of discussions concerning the opportunity to exit from the euro zone and even from the European Union, given that some states have been forced to seek financial aid from the European Union and from international financial institutions, in burdensome terms. At the same time, constrained by the effects of the global financial and economic crisis, the European leaders rethink the whole project of the European Union. In these conditions, we consider of great and present interest our paper, where we have highlighted some aspects and causes of the problems being faced by some euro zone countries.
