Some Ways of Thinking Romanian Political System and Their Relevance for Development

Abstract: The approach proposed in this paper takes the conceptual foundation of neo institutional theory, which seeks to understand the relationship between institutions, behavior and results, proposing at the same time, to highlight the customizations needed in case of emerging economies, in terms of government effectiveness, explained by clear and predictable distribution of powers between the fundamental institutions of the state, through the involvement of citizens in the political system, by equity and fairness in the legal system construction and implementation of public policies and not least, the responsibility, prudence and transparency in public decisions. The core dataset used in this paper is composed of variables related to the political system and electoral rules, choosing to highlight for Romania only descriptive variables of the composition of the Government, changes in government and governance type (minority/majority coalition/single party) ie, elections period and population turnout.
