Abstract: Research and development is defined as a set of actions aimed at discovery of new elements, laws, technology or services and applying this knowledge to create a product or service improved, tehnological processes, which responds to market demands. Current economic crisis, should have made us understand that research and development is not an option or just a fad, but an acute need for a society wishing to advance itself, in order to continue to exist. Innovation requires adaptation of our world to the new realities around us, solving the problems we face daily. Developed countries have realized the importance of this activity and significant funds are channeled towards this direction. In turn, companies have understood that within the situation of fierce global competition, only an intense and efficient research and development activity can help to distinguish from a great businesses that offer the same good or service.
