Abstract:
In this paper we have studied the dependence between pollution and economic results, taking Romania as study case. Among the pollution level indicators we have chosen greenhouse gas emissions, and as economic results indicator we have chosen the GDP per capita. We started by explaining the relation established between economy and environment in terms of growth and sustainable development, we then resorted to descriptive statistics tools to illustrate the evolution of the indicators analyzed during the reference period and we continued by verifying whether there is a statistical relation between these indicators and how strong it is, that is whether the economic growth rate is accompanied by a similar increase in greenhouse gas emissions.
