The Evolution of the Romanian Microenterprises financed by the European Regional Development Fund

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to analyze the evolution of the microenterprises from the Romanian county Vaslui in terms of the number of employees, net turnover and gross profit, after receiving financial assistance from the 2007-2013 programme dedicated to regional development. Measuring the progress of the three parameters, we tested in the empirical research performed the hypothesis that the microenterprises that obtained financial assistance from the European Union for more than one project performed better than the ones that obtained financial assistance for one project only. The paper also includes a critical assessment of the content of the information made available to the general public by the responsible authorities regarding the financed projects and the potential future implications of the e-cohesion obligation.
